Schaefferstown’s 4th Annual WWII Weekend

New to Pennsylvania’s wide array of re-enacting and living history events is Schaefferstown’s WWII Weekend. The event will be held for the fourth time July 29th – 30th, 2023 at the Historic Schaeffer Farm in honor of the town’s 222 men and women who served their country during World War II. The war itself only claimed the lives of three of them, however the number of World War II veterans from Schaefferstown and elsewhere in the world continues to dwindle as time marches on. EPRG, in coordination with Historic Schaefferstown, Inc., have taken it upon themselves to ensure that the stories of our now elderly but once valiant neighbors will be commemorated for years to come. Their service and sacrifice both exemplify the best our small community has to offer, and ultimately the will of the American to staunchly oppose tyranny and oppression, wherever or whenever it may plague the world.
The event will include two days of period encampments, military vehicles, and re-enactment battles replicating combat in Normandy during the summer of 1944. EPRG specifically will be focusing on Operation Cobra, a combined arms attack on German forces which allowed Allied forces to break out of the Norman hedgerow country and eventually succeed in liberating Paris.
